Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the St. Andrew's Ladies Auxiliary
As a non-profit retirement home, volunteers are key to our success at St. Andrew’s Residence. This month we are celebrating the 40th Anniversary of our Ladies Auxiliary; the largest and most dedicated group of volunteers in the history of St. Andrew’s Residence!
When the first residents moved in on September 1, 1970, it was quickly understood that it would take more than a nice building to create the warm atmosphere that the founders of St. Andrew’s Residence were looking for. Within the next year, the St. Andrew’s Residence Ladies Auxiliary was formed and it is impossible to put a value on the contribution that this group has made in creating a cosier, friendlier and happier place.
Over the years, the assistance of our Auxiliary members with our monthly birthday parties and other activities has been a source of joy and excitement for our Residents. Also, through fundraisers such as the Annual Strawberry Social and Yard Sale, Jazzy Jewel and Bake Sale tables, the Ladies Auxiliary has generated thousands of dollars over the past 40 years. Over time these funds have been donated back to the Residence to assist with expansions and improvements both large and small. Many of which would not have been possible without the generosity of the Auxiliary. However, it is undoubtedly the warmth of their kind hearts and smiling faces that is the greatest contribution to our Residents! We would like to thank all Auxiliary members, past and present, for a great forty years and look forward to our formal celebration later this month!
